Juan was born in Madrid in 1997. He started producing as a teenager and released his first EP at 18. He studied film scoring and sound design at Cinema Kids Film School, where he later taught film scoring. For years he played keys across Spain with gospel choirs and rock tribute bands, playing hundreds of shows with dozens of bands in styles from R&B to jazz.
Alongside the music, he earned a double bachelor’s in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Autonomous University of Madrid. A scholarship then took him to Berklee College of Music to study sound technology, recording and production. There he became mix engineer, sound designer and scorer for Berklee’s YouTube and social content, work he still does today. He also led the technical team for the Career Jam Award Concert (arguably the most important music show at the Berklee Performance Center) for two years, one of the most technically demanding shows at the Berklee Performance Center.
LUMINECHO is Juan’s personal project. His songs are about our relationships with ourselves, with other people and with the world, and how those turn out to be the same thing. The music moves between alt-pop, neo-soul and EDM, with a glitchy, psychedelic edge.
Under the same name he produces and mixes for other artists, with credits on tracks by EXO, Concrete Boys (lil Yatchy), Mia Zeta, Nina Del Rio, Chaiah, Ganoush Collective and many others.
He built Granu, a granular synth engine for virtual reality and the first app of its kind on the Meta Quest Store. Granu lets users play audio files like instruments, and VR makes interactions possible that feel unnatural on a computer. He presented the project while assisting at MIT’s Creating Virtual Worlds course, helping manage student projects, giving a couple of lectures, and organizing content.

Juan has scored and sound designed dozens of short films and documentaries. Pure Clear Water won the Best Documentary Audience Award at the Cambridge Film Festival, and Forlorn won Best Sound and Music at the THIMUN film festival.
He recently handled all the audio post for IZARRAK, a documentary featured on the 2026 San Sebastián Film Festival. He creates the sound for Javier Riera’s light art, which has been shown at Nuit Blanche 2023 in Paris (by the Louvre), Vivid Sydney 2024, the Fête des Lumières in Lyon 2024 and TAC in Valladolid, in a permanent exhibition in Salamanca, and in Riyadh, Zagreb and Madrid.
